U7S Dev Blog #2: Update 2 Status, New Development Plan, Updates 3 & 4 Status, Warhammer 40k TTRPG, Baldur’s Gate 3 Coop Honor Mode, WD Reviews, Fan Projects

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all doing okay. I’m back for the second U7S Dev Blog and just like last time, there’s a lot to talk about so let’s get going!

Work continues on Update 2, though the work has been changed a bit. After speaking with some very fine people* in the U7S Discord and receiving some critical feedback regarding this, the development plan for Update 2 has changed. Here’s what the old plan was:

1. Storyboard Chapter 4
2. Write the script for Chapter 4 (38,900 words)
3. Render Chapter 4 in Daz Studio
4. Put it all in Ren’Py
5. Make sure it’s playable from start-to-finish
6. Storyboard Chapter 5
7. Write the script for Chapter 5
8. Render Chapter 5 in Daz Studio
9. Put it all in Ren’Py
10. Make sure it’s playable from start-to-finish
11. Storyboard Chapter 6
12. Write the script for Chapter 6
13. Render Chapter 6 in Daz Studio
14. Put it all in Ren’Py
15. Make sure it’s playable from start-to-finish
16. Port all of Update 1 into Ren’Py
17. One final playthrough start-to-finish
18. Update 2 is released!

That was the old plan for Update 2. This is the new plan for Update 2 as well as the new plan going forward:

UPDATE 2

1. Storyboard Chapter 4

3. Port all of Update 1 into Ren’Py (we are currently here)
4. Render Chapter 4 in Daz Studio
5. Put it all in Ren’Py
6. Make sure it’s playable from start-to-finish

UPDATE 4

That’s right—instead of Update 2 having the next three chapters of Wrestling Dynasty, instead Update 2 will just be Update 1 in Ren’Py + Chapter 4. Update 3 will be focused on Chapter 5, and Update 4 will be focused on Chapter 6.

Unfortunately, this means that Update 2 wont be as big or as impactful as I originally intended. But even more fortunately, this means you will get Update 2 far sooner than originally planned! And that means you’ll also get Update 3 (Chapter 5) far sooner than originally planned! More frequent updates rather than one massive super update is the plan going forward.

In terms of “But will there be less content?” Obviously the new Update 2 (Chapter 4) will have less content than what I originally planned for Update 2 (Chapters 4-6). However, that does NOT mean that Update 2 is going to be a “small” or “minor” update. Like I mentioned earlier, the script for Chapter 4 is 38,900 words, which is Wrestling Dynasty’s biggest chapter so far, beating the previous biggest chapter (Chapter 3, which was 28,556 words) by 10,344 words! That’s over half of all of Chapter 1 and close to half of Chapter 2! So even though Update 2 is being broken up into three different updates now, that does NOT mean that these updates will be small or insignificant.

Additionally, now that I’ve shed the burden of trying to tackle three chapters, I can go back and add more to Chapter 4.

The current plans for Chapters 4, 5, and 6 have not changed. As a reminder, here are the current summaries for the next three Wrestling Dynasty chapters:

• Chapter 4 (Update 2) covers the entire day that began in the Ren’Py Demo and ends when you—and your best two girls—go to sleep that night.
• Chapter 5 (Update 3) will cover the entire two and a half weeks leading up to the next VWA Event: The Great Tournament.
• Chapter 6 (Update 4) will be all about the VWA Event, starting with waking up that day, the day leading to the Event, the Event itself, and then the night afterwards until sleep.

That’s all the news for Wrestling Dynasty, so let’s talk about all the other various projects going on at UniSeven Studios.

The first U7S tabletop RPG adventure is completed! Through 3 horror-filled sessions, we played through Warhammer Fantasy RolePlay 4th Edition. Unfortunately, we had to cut that adventure abruptly short and resolve it as quickly as we could. That was not our original intention but we didn’t have much of a choice, so allow me to apologize for this.

Part of the reason why we rushed the end of the WFRP adventure is so that we could start a new adventure, with some of the returning players and hopefully some new players! We’ll be going from Warhammer Fantasy to Warhammer 40,000 for the next adventure. We’ll be playing the relatively new TTRPG Warhammer 40,000: Imperium Maledictum and I’ll be running the official “Starter Set” adventure! Like the first adventure, the entire thing will be livestreamed on the U7S Twitch and uploaded to the U7S YouTube sometime afterwards. We play using a program called FoundryVTT and it’s completely free for players and you’d play inside your browser. If you’re interested in possibly joining as a player, join our Discord and let us know!

Speaking of livestreaming, let’s talk about the next U7S streaming project. Currently, I am streaming a Madden NFL 25 Franchise playthrough, starring Vincent Morgan as the new rookie quarterback of the future for the Green Bay Packers, and several Discord members have joined the team in various positions! The draft is coming up soon and I’ll be looking for new players to join the team, so if this sounds interesting to you, join our Discord!

The next U7S livestream project will be a playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 3! But not just any playthrough—it will be a 3 player coop Honor Mode playthrough! It will be me, Vados, and Cell (from our Discord) that will be playing together, and we intend to play as EVIL as possible to see all the new evil content in BG3!

The BG3 playthrough is still being sorted out so I don’t yet have a planned start time, but I’d expect it sometime this week or next week (possibly even later tonight or sometime tomorrow), so if you haven’t already, make sure to follow the official UniSevenStudios Twitch channel! I would like to take this time and humbly ask those who have played Wrestling Dynasty to please consider leaving reviews on either F95 or Itch (or both!) Every review drastically helps exposure and growth, and I thank you in advance.

Finally, I’d like to talk about some potential fan projects that I’d be very interested in working with some of you with. Here’s all of the projects I’m looking for:

• A proficient CAW maker in WWE 2k24 that could make some/all of the game’s cast in. (I have some great ideas as to how I’d like to utilize WWE 2k24 into Wrestling Dynasty but unfortunately, I’m not the best at making custom CAWs myself.)
• Someone well-versed in WWE 13 or WWE 14, specifically the old “Create-A-Story” feature, as well as proficient at making CAWs in either of these games. (Like WWE 2k24, I have some really exciting ideas as to how to use this for Wrestling Dynasty.)
• I’m looking for someone to play the part of “online blogger” about VWA! You and I would create your character (albeit, very minor character, your primary role is the in-game VWA blog) for Wrestling Dynasty who goes to each VWA event and then posts an online “review” of the show. You would write the review yourself, completely in kayfabe (in character), and the MC—and thus, all the Players—will come across at some point and read themselves in game! In addition to reviews, you would also write about upcoming events or anything else in the world of the VWA that an online blogger would cover!
• If written pieces aren’t your forte, I’m also looking for people to record audio reviews of VWA events! You—and up to 2 others—would record yourselves reviewing the most recent VWA Event. No video is required, and the audio review can only be a few minutes if you’d like, though you’re free to go into as much detail (and otherwise) as you want. If you ever wanted to have your own version of online shows like Wrestling With Wregret, Post Wrestling, Solomonster, JDfromNY, WrestleTalk, and more, this could be your chance within the VWA world!
